This week we were given the task of creating a piece of music with the tempo of 30bpm. This will help me as a bass player keep the groove to funky bass line and keep in time being really tight in songs with different tempos. For this task I started to write different funk pieces that would fit over well in time with the Bpm. I found it tricky to start with because I could quite get it in time with the beat because it was slower than what I usually play to. But as I got more tight with the tempo, I created many more funk riffs to play, but I chose one I was most comfortable with to record on my phone. I think I need to get recording equipment soon because I need to fully develop song other than just badly recording ideas. I was influenced Mr bungle to create a weird slap bass piece and related it to my normal slap bass.
The bass line includes: It starts on a B which is slapped. It then moves onto the A string and goes down chromatically from the F to the D# all three notes there are popped. I then include 4 dead notes to keep in with the beat and to make the track sound more funky. The next part is slapped starting on the A on the E string, this is going up chromatically to the B. but on every 4th time instead of going chromatically down on the A string, this time it goes F, E, G. Then 4 dead notes and then ended off with two hits on the D only to then start the pattern again on the B. The next part only uses dotted minims to fit in the 4/4 bar using individual root notes. The root notes go in the order of B, A, G, F#, B, D, G, G. This is used to break down the rest of the song once its finished.
